1965/1966  Marshall Bluesbreaker

 

Amp

Model # 1987 - Serial number 5366 -  High Treble and Normal channels. 

JTM 45 on right on plexi panel and MKII on left. 

Original classic Marshall knobs which began in late 1965. 

It has a cream back panel which was prior to gold plexiglas panel which

began in mid-1964 - 1965.  Perforated Tufnell board.  2 - 5881 power tubes,

GZ34 rectifier and 3 ECC83 preamp tubes.  Original white plastic script

Marshall logo which was introduced in late 1965. 

The power transformer is original.  No tremolo circuitry. 

A small piece of the plexi-glass has been re-glued under the MKII label.

Mike Clark worked on this amp to make sure it was running properly. 

 

Power supply upgraded.  Replaced: cathode resistors, 1st and 2nd stage

 

tube sockets with Allen Brody, voltage and impedance selector, carbon

 

comps in phase inverter, and output transformer.  Replaced filter caps. 

 

He also reinforced the cabinet to better secure the amp to the cabinet.

 

Cabinet

 

1962 2 X 12 “Grey and white plasiticky striped cloth – referred to as

 

Bluesbreaker grill cloth used 1965 - 1968. 

 

Dimensions are:  10 ¾ - deep, 22 ¾ - tall, 29 ½ - wide. 

 

Missing lower back piece of cabinet. 

 

Small pieces of tolex have been patched back on as can be seen in the pictures.

Speakers

 

2 - 15 ohm G12 Celestion alnico magnet silver no label speakers. 

 

The codes on the speakers are: 

 

 T 1096 - 27 May 1964 per page 137 of Doyle - The History of Marshall.

 

One speaker is marked AF 17 X and the other is AF 18 ? (V, Y, X - not clearly

 

legible)
